The Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted the daily lives of Canadians, Americans, Sumerians, Mongolians, and basically everyone around the world. The sheer impact of this Globe-spanning virus is both incredible and disturbing. Despite lockdowns and social distancing measures, certain aspects of life must continue. Moving house is one of them.
During these crazy times, Action Moving and Storage has had many clients reach out with questions regarding the feasibility of moving during a pandemic. While moving may not seem like an essential process to some, for others, such as new homebuyers, or those with leases ending, it may be very necessary. Fortunately, re-locating is something that can be done in a safe and Covid-free manner.
Here’s what you need to know:
What Services Are Still Available?
Action Moving and Storage continues to operate at full capacity. If you require a full house move across the province, we can provide. Should you want to pack away furniture at our secure storage facility, we have you covered. Even during the peak(s) of the pandemic, moving is considered an essential service, and our business has not yet been impacted.
What Safety Measures Are You Taking?
Since we first opened our doors, the health and well-being of Action’s stakeholders has been our number one priority. The entirety of our team actively practices cleaning and sanitization measures on a daily basis. In addition, we have altered our company’s HR policies so that any sick or potentially infected employees are required to stay home. This, when combined with our social distancing measures, mask and glove requirements, and regular staff reminders and updates, helps us go above and beyond while following safety measures.
What If I’m Not Feeling Well?
If you have a move booked with our team and you start to feel under the weather, please let us know right away! Transparency is vital and appreciated by all. If this unfortunate event were to occur, we ask that you use pack your items while wearing a mask and gloves, as well as use antibacterial wipes and sprays. If you are feeling ill within 24 hours of our service, and have yet to get a ‘negative’ test result, we may have to alter the scheduling of the move.
How Should I Prepare For My Move?
Planning ahead has always been an instrumental part of moving prep – mid-pandemic this is no exception. As you start your moving journey, keep these pointers in mind:
- Over-do it on the packing supplies. Running back and forth between the store because you forgot to buy extra boxes and tape greatly increases your exposure potential, so don’t hold back during your initial shopping trip.
- Make time to contact your professional moving company so that you can organize a tight schedule and also voice any safety concerns that you may have.
- While packing up your belongings, take the opportunity to clean and sanitize as you go. Think of this as a way to pay-forward some housekeeping chores while also taking care of any nasty germs.
- Avoid using free or recycled moving boxes. Covid-19 can survive on cardboard for up to 24 hours, so make sure you know the exact source of your supplies.
On Moving Day:
On the big day, we ask that you help us keep the safety train rolling along by ensuring that your household is adequately equipped with hygiene products such as sanitizer and gloves. Our staff are guaranteed to practice proper distancing, and are always keen to address any concerns that you may have.
We all collectively hope that this pandemic ends sooner rather than later. As we continue to weather the storm, know that Action’s team is prepared to work with you to make your move as seamless and stress-free as possible.
